How to add symbols to your TikTok bio and name

TikTok has no symbol picker, but the name and bio fields accept Unicode characters, so anything you copy from this page can be pasted straight in.

1. Find a symbol above. Search for a word like star, heart or arrow, or pick a category.
2. Tap it to copy it. To combine several, switch to Tap to build, add symbols and spaces, then copy the whole line at once.
3. In the TikTok app, go to your profile, tap Edit profile, then Name or Bio. Paste and save.

Your bio has room for 80 characters. Some symbols are made of more than one character behind the scenes, so they can use up two or more of those 80 even though they look like one. The counter in the build bar shows how much room your line takes.

Will everyone see my symbols?

Common symbols such as stars, hearts, arrows and box-drawing lines are covered by the fonts on recent iPhones and Android phones. Rarer characters, for example ones borrowed from ancient scripts or recent additions to Unicode, can appear as empty boxes or question marks on older phones and some computers. The kaomoji and aesthetic combos mix characters from several writing systems, so they are the most likely to look different from one device to the next. If you use one, check your profile from another phone.

Keep symbols decorative

Screen readers announce many symbols by their full name, such as black star or rightwards arrow, and some are read one character at a time or skipped entirely. A bio made mostly of symbols can be slow or confusing to listen to. Use symbols to frame your words rather than replace them, keep the important details like your niche or how to contact you in plain text, and avoid putting symbols in the middle of words.

Pair symbols with fancy fonts
